Two great comments that were prevented by the technology gods from being added to the comments section of my previous post.
Spontaneous Poem Written by a Wonderful Man Full of Artistic Talent Named George (you know who you are!)
Campidiots
Camping in the Great Outdoors
Sustained our Natives by the scores.
They nurtured nature all around.
Mother Earth was sacred ground.
When leaving by travois or horse,
They left their campgrounds clean of course.
Respect for others and critters, yes
And natural laws obeyed I guess.
But modern Campidiots do not care.
They leave their garbage everywhere.
Let’s ban them from the camping road.
“Get outa’ here. And, take your load
To a public dump where you belong.
Leave us be! Hear our song!
Mother Earth we embrace.
That’s why we leave without a trace.”
Wonderful Insight from a Dynamic Woman Named Kim Who Speaks on Behalf of Old Growth Forests (Hoh Rainforest is a Fave)
“I appreciate you making talk on trash. Another trash issue in campgrounds is potty wipes left behind bushes. Those don’t decompose. I even found them along day sites, such as near the Duncan Tree and on the Commissioner Trail, even if toilet paper, we’re not in nature to look at piles of paper waste. If you have trouble cleaning up after yourself, use a leaf, although, with the amount of campers there are, that might ruin a tree.”
